to be continued...

If True Grit and Marie Antoinette ever had a love child, she would be rocking this coat.

one of the girls

There are only three weeks left in this quarter and I'm at that weird un-productive, low-point because nothing is due till 3 weeks from now.  Then, all of a sudden the last week and a half, it starts to sink how little time I have and I find myself in a frenzied state of emotion trying to finish everything.
Well, this quarter I'm going to avoid this.  So starting this weekend, I'm devoting a lot of my time to sifting through the ridiculous amount of work that I have.  This means that I will have to decide on my leather in the next few days, there are so many colors, textures, and weights! (and we all know I'm no good at decision making)  I'll also be coming up with a brilliant excuse as to why spending $80 on four, measly yards of chiffon is warranted.  But nonetheless, in three weeks I will be done, and off to Philadelphia.
Oh, let the scrambling begin...

grunge goddess

Pretty much how I would dress if I was a bad ass, rock n' roll princess.  I watched a really intense episode of 'Behind the Music' on Courtney Love the other night, so I guess this is me being a little jealous of her awesome rebel 'tude.  Then I see these little bad boys in RUSSH and I had to share.

P.S.  All images from RUSSH.  Also, very random, but check out Courtney Love's blog if you wanna revisit your grunge days.

things organized neatly

For some odd reason, this is one of my new favorite tumblr obsessions.  I'm not sure why, or if this is a step in the wrong direction for my obsessive compulsive disorder, but this site cheers me up when I'm not in the best of moods.

optical illusions

(CAD projects and some more Beth Hoeckel art)

As artists we face many challenges beyond the ones most people encounter everyday.  The key to getting through these challenges is to look past them at the bigger picture ahead.  Fashion, out of all the artistic fields, is one of the hardest industries to break in to, especially being an industry that glorifies a good looking person over a good looking portfolio.  I guess I have been naive in thinking that the monstrous side of an industry wouldn't rear its ugly head at such a premature stage, we are only in college.  But I should've known that it could still affect us at this level because I'm starting to experience it more and more.

I've come to terms with the fact that there are people who will do anything to get what they want and say anything to get where they want.  Its all smoke and mirrors, and one day it will come crashing down.  After all, its only an optical illusion.

stitches

Really loving these art pieces by Inge Jacobsen right now.  She hand embroiders actual magazine photos, and I think its oh so lovely.
I finally finished my muslin critique in my apparel III class.  It was probably the most stressful 5 days of my life.  I have never not slept or showered for so long in my life.   It was a grueling process but I finally got everything sewn and all the patterns drafted.  I'm so excited about ordering my final fabric, planning on mixing chiffon and leather...kind of terrifying and exciting all in one.

golden days

Leoci's, Forsyth Park, and Sidewalk Arts Festival.

P.S.  I'm in the process of finding out who or what made those magical wind catchers that hung through out the park.  Coolest things I've seen in a while, I waaaaannnt.

sugar plum

Even though these are beauty shots from Chloe's fall 2011 runway show, I think it would be lovely for summer time.  Its so golden and warm, with a few hints of plum eyeliner here and there.  I love the nude nails, so easy and free.  For now, its back to work.  Excuse me if I seem to be on a blogging hiatus for the next week. These next 7 days of my life will be spent in Eckburg at a dress form and sewing machine.
