beth + thoughts

Some new Beth Hoeckel Artwork

Here lie some quick thoughts before I have to go sew my life away:

Some things that have entered my journal recently are thoughts about Love.  I always think about how throughout life we are constantly searching for soul mates.  Some people find it in the opposite sex, some people find it in their friends, some people in siblings or parents.  Often those soul mates change during a certain transition in life.  As I go through life relationships that I encounter, grow closer together only to grow apart in the end, but I've come to accept it.  We are all just searching for someone in which we can invest everything and undeniably share our dreams with.
It's amazing to think that no matter how different every human is on this earth, in the end we are all just searching for our soul mates.

Another thought:
Looking back on past entries, I had tons of goals and aspirations and details of just how I was going to get there.  I sounded so bold and fearless!  Whenever I look back I'm constantly critiquing myself, and how things didn't go according to my "plan."  But when taking a closer look, they happened, just not the way I intended.
Sometimes I confuse positivity and being fearless, with simplicity.  There is no simple, easy formula for happiness.  Life will throw you more curve balls than you thought were possible but all that matters is marching toward the bigger picture and loving life on the way.

leavers lace

Here's a video that I stumbled upon that was filmed/made by one of the girls that I worked with at Anthropologie this summer.  Its basically a video of how lace is made in the industry and its rather beautiful.
So...I highly suggest taking a few minutes out of your busy day and watching it.

fernanda

Fernanda Yamamoto's latest collection and a National Geographic Picture taken in Spain...oddly to me they go together.

And my obsession with farm girls continues...
But on another note, I am in love with her design aesthetic! and unfortunately she is not related to Yohji, his daughter is Limi Feu, who is equally amazing.
But seriously! in love.

rebel

This is what the past few days have been looking like.  I'm in a state of rebellion for the next 15 minutes, taking a break and trying to act like I have a life. Its been real.

elle adorned

A Magazine, curated by Elle Fanning, styled with Rodarte's Fra Angelico Collection.

These shots are so wonderfully inspirational.  The mood, the girl, and the styling is on another level entirely!  I love that Elle is sporting a Mystery Spot T-shirt in the first picture.  Its a place in Santa Cruz, California where gravity plays funny trick on the viewer and I've always wanted to go.

Magnifico

Rodarte's Fra Angelico collection exhibited at LACMA.  This is one of my favorite things that the Mulleavy sisters have ever done.  I think the way this particular collection has been displayed with the garments suspended in mid-air, is especially wonderful.  The garments look almost angelic.
The colors, the materials, the fabrics...these ladies can do no wrong.

Loving this new video from free people, showcasing their January catalogue.  Could Karlie Kloss be anymore magical and stunning?

too cool for school

While combing Vanessa Jackman's street style blog (one of my all time favs) these lovely pictures popped up. Immediately I thought, I want to be this girl, or the spastic, earth child version of her anyway. Her name is Talisa Sutton, and along with having the coolest hair, she has a badass Blog, called Badlands, and is co-designer of the Australian label Uniform.
Every one of her looks is enviable from top to bottom. Some people are just so--...cool, right?

new gadgets

Got some new gadgets this Christmas, and one of them just happened to be one of those way-too-fancy cameras.  Here's some snapshots that happened while trying to figure out how to work the thing.  Who knew spilt glitter could be so very fascinating?

p.s. with the exception of the first two images that were taken in Austin, please try to ignore the fact that these images highlight how very exciting my life is when I'm at home..yay for cornfields and grain bins!
