lookbook crushin'

I fell, and I fell hard for Karla Spetic's SS13 collection.  Since this entire collection from the mint hued shoes, organza button-ups, ditsy floral under things, and ahem this (amazing) candy coated nod to an overall can clearly speak for themselves, I'm not gonna say too much.  Only that this is pretty much the the most wonderful thing I've seen in quite a while.

greener is the grass

This is what happens when Morgan and I go to the park or when I get the notion that I can take photos.  Its a fleeting one, don't worry.  But nevertheless, the day was perfect and I took up my favorite spot nestled right beneath where the shade and the sunshine meet.  I was even able to squeeze some knitting and sketching in before the sun went into hiding.
All this summertime nostalgia had me thinking about this past year finishing up school and taking the giant leap into the "big pond" and I can't help but realize that I didn't always appreciate the little moments in my scramble to survive senior collection.  But isn't that what we as humans always end up doing?  Romancing the past, or fantasizing about the future...its a never ending cycle.  Thats why this day I enjoyed then and there, not as a memory.

deck the dolls

I really love these works by embroidery/textile artist Anne Duthie.  This is such a good way to experiment with different surface treatments and spark new ideas without having to use actual fabric.  Plus, they look great lined up in a pretty little row, definitely frame-worthy.

hair to emulate

I'm sure most of you reading this also read Free People's blog but I had to repost this video, especially so I can reference it later.  I'm always looking for easy hair ideas that one-up the proverbial messy, top-knot, scrunch-ball that most of us employ on a daily basis.  This seems ever so easy, and perfectly undone.  Disheveled, just how I like it.

in print

Back in May when I participated in Savannah Fashion Week I was also asked to be featured in Savannah Magazine's style section.  I was pretty stoked to pick up my copy of Savannah Magazine and see my work printed in tangible form.  Many thanks to Emily and Ashley of Fabrika for including me in such an amazing opportunity!

p.s. The only bummer is that my new and improved website wasn't ready in time for the article...check it out here >> www.paigejoost.com.

on the other side

This past weekend I got a little taste of what life is like on the PR side of the fashion industry.  Needless to say, I'm even more firmly rooted on my design side of the fence.  It was glamorous, hectic, and at times frustrating, but mostly just humorous that this much of commotion was made over clothing.  I was able to see models like Ginta Lapina and Frida Gustavsson in action, and throughout my run-ins over the weekend the verdict is that they are quite lovely people.  There were probably over 100 people that invaded Savannah just to shoot this Express 2012 Holiday campaign and produce the fashion show.  Its pretty amazing what it takes to put together such a production, and while it was interesting and exciting, I don't think I'll be doing it anytime again soon.  Gimme back my paper and pencil, and I'll be just fine.

summer dressing, sorta...

Here's to the art of summer dressing, and the multitude of street style photos that it produces.  I'm not sure where you're located but in Savannah, its nothing but hot.  So when I see street style images of trench coats, long sleeves, or even scarves I start to sweat a little.  I guess its just a friendly reminder that in other parts of the world people haven't yet experienced a giant heat wave...that happens to last an entire summer.

Nevertheless, Vanessa Jackman captures summer spirit beautifully with her lens.  She is one of my favorite photographers of these sort and she is completely making me envy that bright coral rain coat.

assorted // Free People

Well Free People pretty much did it again.  I love what they seem to be doing with their new fall pieces.  I envisioned them in some more interesting places than a studio, hence the collage.  It seems a little more thought out than usual and I love the way the styled the different silhouettes.  I want this to be my wardrobe come fall.  Its put together  in a ruggedly charming way that still looks appropriately neat.

For now, its back to knitwear.  I have to say, finishing up my very last class at SCAD is turning out to be quite fun.
