back in the day bakery

My little sister, Cameron, visited last weekend and I have to say we had a pretty magical time.  Lovely is the only way to describe our shenanigans, but I'll leave you the hard evidence in these photos above. Cameron is also a pretty talented photographer and she happened to capture these at Back in the Day Bakery, along with some other photos from her trip.  You can view all of her adventures on her blog here
I still can't believe in less than two weeks I will be completely gone from the city I've called home for the past few years.  I've taken Savannah's haunting beauty for granted lately and I have a feeling I'll be missing it as soon as I start losing visibility of the spanish moss in my rear view mirror.

from behind the scenes

I'm beyond excited to see the pictures from the recent studio shoot I did for my senior collection.  I'm lucky enough to have a slew of extremely creative friends that surround me in Savannah.  One of them was kind enough to be my photographer.  She is Jessica Budnick and she had so many great ideas for the shoot, working with her was a dream!  I'm anxiously awaiting the final product!  My portfolio is slowly coming together along the way and its so rewarding to see the final pieces fall into place after so much uncertainty during the creation of everything.  Being so close to a project for so long has the tendency to blind you, and it was so refreshing to see another creative point of view at work.  More to come soon!

hazy days

Here's to graduations, banana and peanut butter smothered waffles, hidden tropical flora, savannah's beauty, overpriced magazines, and corn husk shirts.

lookbook crushin' No.2

New Zealand designer Kate Sylvester is the newest member of the club that steals my heart on a regular basis.  I would wear every single one of these pieces without fail.  Right now, I'm drawn towards anything easy with an interesting twist, throw in a few removable collars, some pops of red, and chunky ballet inspired shoes and you have a perfect formula for making the little girl in me want to wear all of this....and have a tea party...in a lavender field.
I'm gonna keep my eye on this one, I have a feeling there's more wonderful to come.

new mediums

Here lies some of the knit work I've done lately.  I feel like I'm finally getting a handle on this thing called knitting.  I love the fact that I can be sitting on a cozy coffee shop couch enjoying a hazelnut latte and knitting a crazy dress at the same time.  It makes so much sense right now.  Don't get me wrong I love sewing and those long days in the studio, but I feel like fashion designers are always tucked away somewhere and when such a material allows me to be a people person?? Well, I'm all over it.  More to come very, very soon.  Here's to knitwear...even when its 100 degrees outside.

barefoot and begrimed

I am so inspired by Charlotte Hess's knitwear its unreal.  Her latest collection that debuted at Charleston Fashion Week (a goal of my own)  is like everything I would wear if I lived in an overgrown field full of gauzy white tents and golden light that never faded.  Seriously, amazed.  I love how she handles knitwear.  It is so perfectly undone.

looking like this

A photo of one of my looks from senior collection and some samples I've been working on lately.  I'm starting to see knitted patterns in my head, I might be going slightly insane.

washed up and washed out

I love this white on white look especially with salty beach hair.  Its as if you washed up on a beach some where like a perfectly worn piece of sun-bleached drift wood.  With no jewelry or adornments, this type of simplicity is everything I'm into right now.
