robotique majestique

Missoni Spring/Summer 2011
(really its more like SS/2157)

I'll spare you the obsession I have with Missoni- and not just their clothing, the whole damn family- and simply tell you that I love this.  I want to wear all of this right now, while traipsing around the desert, getting lost in strobe lights and jamming techno music.  I also love how they put their purses in shopping bags and had the models tote them around.  Kind of reminds me of Chanel's "purse in a box" idea from fall 2009.  But seriously, those sandals and hats??  YES. YES. YES.

wood grain grippin'

The gold lips, the wood grain that reminds me of a 1970s oldsmobile, the beautiful shades of brown, and crisp white/blue combination.  Its easy to see why Rodarte is one of my favorite brands.  Kate and Laura Mulleavey never cease to amaze me.  They churn out nomadic, though provoking garments season after season.  I love their aesthetic, and the fabrics they use are always so perfect together.  Its trying with out trying to hard and just weird enough to make any fashion editor squirm when writing a review.  I think this season they've done something so different from their previous collections, but its still Rodarte.  I had way too many favorite pieces, but here are the ones I narrowed it down to.  I want them soooooo badly.

However, instead of shelling out 10,000 for a dress, I think I'll curb my appetite with some music.
This is their Fall 2010 show.  Soundtrack=AMAZING.  The video on their website is much better.  Anyways, enjoy...

Mr. Kane

So I'm sure your wondering why Christopher Kane's newest resort collection needs to be glorified seeing as how he has just shown spring 2011.  Well, honestly today I was looking at his spring 2011 collection and I couldn't have hated it more.  The lace.  The weird grandma tailoring.  It was a little much for me to handle.
It brought me back to this fabulous resort collection, which I both love and want.  I thought to myself, why couldn't he have created something just as exciting as this collection?  Then as I start thinking about his previous collections I start to notice a pattern.  As soon as I mull through another set of his runway pictures on style.com I automatically get some uneasy feeling from it and deem it weird, and off kilter.  However, the more I look at the pictures and read reviews the more I come to love the uneasy weird feeling I get from his collections.  I also begin to fall in love with certain pieces, so unique you could only find them at a Chris Kane show.

This is what I love about him.  His way of thinking and conceptualizing.  The end result is not something you would want Joan Rivers to pick apart on fashion police, no doubt she would tear it to shreds with her "witty," comedic slang.  But, it is something to be admired.  Something different.

soul kitchen

Everyday we get dressed and put together some sort of collaboration.  For most of us, I hope, it is an art form.  We make some sort of little masterpiece for our bodies to enjoy all day long as we prance around in it.  Then at the end of the day we shed our clothes and in a few hours we will probably never think of that outfit again.  Therefore, I've decided to do a photo-diary, if you will, of my clothing for the entire quarter.  I'll take a picture of my outfit each day.  The fun part is going to come about 2 months from now when I look back at my outfits and can pick out the days of sleep deprivation or stress, or even the days of sheer bliss.  I'm hoping I will learn something about myself other than the fact that I'm not keen on brushing my hair, but I'll let you know how this one turns out.

oh, yea here's to day one.

boy, you've got me in a tizzy

I think I'm going to tell my mom that all I want for Christmas is a gap between my teeth.  Something about vintage hair and make-up makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

By the way, Blondie up there is giving off a vibe thats some sort of cross between Twiggy and Bob Dylan in my mind.  I'm loving it.

sugar magnolia

For fall I'm thinking ranchero grandma sweaters with long frilly vintage skirts, hair that has taken leave on an acid trip, and bare feet.
Oh yes, and throw in some linen pants and some article of multi-colored faux fur.
