the bare necessities

Just some magical little lovelies I want to live in this summer.  For some reason when I envision summer 2011, I see platforms for days, high waisted/short anything, and the occasional maxi skirt or dress.  Ah, and I can't forget the Osborn oxfords up top.  Summer is calling me, louder than ever.

the hat

Love the detail on the back of this jumpsuit.

Picked this hat up from Urban last spring.  It suddenly makes the everyday grind feel as whimsical as a Dr. Seuss book when worn, and goes ever so nicely with my favorite thrifted white jumpsuit.  The past few days have been a balmy, sun-bathed dream.  This weekend was spent mostly in the park, with the loveliest people of course.

Also, I'm finally hearing (good news!) back from some internships I applied for and school is coasting along.  Although I have a feeling its about to become turbulent in the next week or so.  Sometimes all we need is a little praise to quench our dehydrated creative minds, and it couldn't have come at a better time.  For now, its back to work--hope its sunny wherever you may be...

the dog days are over

Happiness hit her like a train on a track
Coming towards her stuck still no turning back
She hid around corners and she hid under beds
She killed it with kisses and from it she fled
With every bubble she sank with her drink
And washed it away down the kitchen sink

The dog days are over
The dog days are done
The horses are coming
So you better run

Run fast for your mother, run fast for your father
Run for your children, for your sisters and brothers
Leave all your love and your longing behind
You cant carry it with you if you want to survive

The dog days are over
The dog days are done
Can you hear the horses?
Because here they come

lovers and friends

trippy tent make-up, I think I used 37584 colors?

Photo diary of some of the better days.  These were jacked from Allie's camera, with help from the ever-so stealth Kailey Powell.

General rule of thumb we like to live by:  When its 70 degrees in the middle of February it is absolutely necessary to make a tent in the back yard and parade around in 5 inch Jeffrey Campbell platforms.  Then celebrate your tent making skills by drinking lots of wine and surrounding yourself with your favorite people, all while taking obnoxious pictures.

Happy Valentine's Day, lovelies.  When you're boyfriend is 1800 miles away it helps to hug the nearest pair of shoes, just a little pointer.

coutier abandoned

The models were lovely for being covered in baby powder the whole day, and so was Allie as she hurried to snap the pictures in the ever fading sunlight.  So pleased with the way everything turned out.  The lipstick is Urban Decay "confession."  Its totally my new favorite color.

p.s. taking pictures at a haunted and condemned mental hospital is totally worth all the creepiness.

perfection.

I don't normally repost things from such notorious blogs, for obvious reasons, but this picture of a man on The Sartorialist captured my attention.  There's something about him that is perfect to me.  He is rugged, yet fashionable, but he feels so disconnected from "fashion" at the same time. Absolutely love.
