for the feet

One of my favorite things about fall and winter dressing are the boots.  Even though I wear them year round there is something special about slubby knit socks paired with your favorite, ruggedly-cozy boots. The light grayish ones are my go to pair, they literally work with everything, and the yummy brown ones are my sister's.  She snagged these Cole Haan bad-boys at a rummage sale and I am completely jealous.  I may be stealing them from her in the very near future.

This is why I love Flickr.  Just found NASA's flickr page and I'm geeking out over supernovae, black holes, and the Orion Nebula.
Check-it-out here.

P.S.  Happy Thanksgiving!  Hope everyone eats wayyy too much and spends their time with those they love.

the power of ten + thoughts

Here lies one of the things that has been occupying my mind lately, The Power of Ten.  I highly recommend watching it on the website.  It will change your perception of our world/galaxy/universe and maybe even time, I know it did for me.  Its a film by Charles and Ray Eames, two artists, and quite an extraordinary one at that.  Check it out it will be the most interesting 9 minutes of your life, you won't be disappointed.

black rock city lovin'

A collection of photos borrowed from RUSSH magazine's, the collective.  The not-so-average girl group, DAMPYVAMP, stopped at burning man on their current tour and took part in the desert campground experience.  They sent in some of their favorite moments to RUSSH and I couldn't love these more.  Makes me want to do it again, oh so badly.
Black Rock City 2012 or BUST.

way up high + thoughts

I've recently been reacquainted with outer space and its wonders, and I can't seem to get my fill.  Space is something we all learn about when we're younger, but the concept always sort of scared me.  The idea that there was a mysterious, infinite space out there, just didn't sit well with my seven year old self that was just trying make sense of the world.
Now that I'm older, I've learned that not everything is supposed to make sense in this mystical world we live in, and one of those is our universe.  There's something beautiful about a place where there is no concept of time, or space...it travels on forever.  There is no beginning and no end.

This video shows time lapsed footage of Earth taken with the Hubble space telescope.  It's pretty amazing to see thunderstorms, the aurora borealis, and bits of light reflected off of Earth's atmosphere.  Shows just how magical our "reality" really is.

lately No. 1

check out all my instagram photos here

My visual diary in Instagrams from the past few weeks.  I realize now that these kind of make me look like a crazy boozing, caffeine addicted, exhausted, night prowler.  This may or may not be totally accurate.

decisions + finals

Oh dear.
Its that retched time again, and it snuck up on me.
Here we go, on a wild roller-coaster of emotion, sleep depravation, and compromisation of personal hygiene.
Counting down till thanksgiving and some much needed chill time.
On a lighter note, I'm a sucker for a solid pair of boots and Free People's selection is killer.  Color has yet to be determined, but these will end up in my closet one way or another.

walkin' the line

Everything I want to wear right now...from RUSSH's Rule On shoot. It's still quite nice here in Georgia, not too cold but just pleasant enough to bust out your favorite fall pieces.
I envision one of those lovely long maxis with some colored tights underneath and my favorite pair of rugged booties.  Perrrrfection...rule on, Georgia.

call it what you want

Coat, Mocassins, Socks

This is pretty much everything I want to wear on a crisp, sunny fall day.  I love a good coat-dress to make me feel extra girly on occasion and those J.Crew, Minnetonka mocassins will soon make their way into my closet, one way or another.  But that lip! It has to be my favorite, I just can't get over that wonderful bright you-don't-know-if-its-orange-or-red color.
On another note this quarter is coming to an end and I'm still procrastinating.  I think I'm gonna go on a hiatus from the internet for a few days, and back to the drawing board....literally.  Sometimes its better to spend the day's hours with paper and pencil instead of a computer screen.

process + thoughts

So here lies a first attempt at a muslin for my senior collection.  Before I tell you whether I was happy with it or not, I must confess a few things...
I'm still sort of entranced by the whole "artistic process."  One day you're crying and depressed, more like weeks at a time, and then all of sudden you see the light and everything is wonderful.  But before any emotions become permanent, they roller-coaster, and yes that is a verb, up and down many times before finally leaving you extremely exhausted of all brain power.
It wasn't until I started the grueling process of actually making a 3-D version of my look, that the whole thing started to come together, and I fell in love with what I was creating.  Its still a roller-coaster of emotion, work, and sleep depravation but I finally have a direction!  So here's to artistic process and its mysterious victories.
